Advisory

The NFTA is here for you.

From regulation reform to launching your first truck — our experts have worked at every level of the mobile food industry.

Municipal Needs

We help cities, counties, and states with mobile vending regulations. We've worked with dozens of municipalities to rewrite and reorganize regulations alongside food truck associations, health department officials, and administrators.

Keynote Speaking

Our board members speak on opening and running successful food truck businesses, building a brand, growing from a truck to a brick-and-mortar, advocacy, public health, public safety, and creating regulations that work.

Advocacy

Since 2010 NFTA members have championed laws that expand vending across the country. We act, teach, build, advance, and lift the mobile vending industry.

General Consulting

Launching a new truck, starting your town's first commissary, or increasing profitability in an existing operation — from a 90-minute conversation to a full hands-on project, our national panel covers a broad spectrum of services.

Before You Engage

Start with the tutorials.

Consulting works best when you have a little background on the industry. Watch the food truck tutorial and the fire safety video. We also recommend The Food Truck Handbook by David Weber.

For regulatory questions, the enforcement agencies that issue your permits are the best source. Always get the name and email of anyone who gives you information so you can hold them accountable.

Health Permits

Usually County-issued (bigger cities have their own departments). This is a permit to serve food — health departments only care about food safety.

Business Licenses

City-issued in incorporated areas. Gets you the right to sell food, collect taxes, and know where you're allowed to park.

Fire Departments

Sign-off is required in many jurisdictions. They review fire suppression systems, gas lines, and safety valves.
